Need a little help...

I'm still learning php and mysql. I run a site with a friend. But neither of us are sure about how to do what we want done. I've seen it done on other sites.

We have a forum on our site. We use Invision. Is there a way to set up a login forum on our main site to login for the forums? But when they login, I want it to keep them at the main site, and show somewhere on the navigation that they're loged in, and maybe a few stats for the forum or something. But if they're logged in, I want them to be able to download media we have on our site, like .zip files and such. But I want those files to be downloadable only if you are logged in with our forum's database. So you have to join the forum in order to download media period.

I know, asking a lot. But please could someone help me out on doing something like this? I'm still learning, but willing to try anything.

Hiya gogeta! I don't know much about Invision, but we use Vbulletin here and there are plenty of code hacks that allow logins on non-vb pages. Surely there must be a community site somewhere for Invision hacks? Once your visitors are logged in, its a simple base of tracking cookies to determine logins... and if someone is logged in, then they can access pages, etc.

All this sounds excellent in theory, of course, but I have *NO* understanding of Invision... So I'm not totally sure its possible with your software. Sowwy! :/

Thanks for the help, but after searching for a few more hours I found a place that shows me how to do it.

If anyone is interested, thanks for the help though. Got me going in the right direction. :P
