[CSS/XHTML] 'sticky' active state?

Hey guys (and gals)

I'm finally thinking of creating a site for myself, but I ran into a little prob... I created this design (link-da-link) but I can't seem to make the tabs stay in active state. They deactivate as soon as you click somewhere else.

Is there an easy way to fix this?

The simple way is to script your tabs so that you have an array of different states in which only one tab is active, etc. Then code something simple in PHP that reads your page/url/etc, and activates the right tab state.
