Hey, could anyone show me how to do a click counter on a google ads banner. This is just so next to the banner i can put how many times it has been clicked. Thanks.

not sure if google would allow this, or if it would be possible. also, why would you want to?

Without looking, I'm pretty sure it is against the google rules. No ad network allows you to offer your visitors incentives for clicks, or inducement in any way shape or form. Its a backlash against warez sites which only let people download once they had fulfilled a certain number of ad clickthroughs.

Why would Google not like it if you displayed how many clicks had been made on an advert?

I believe that the agreement states that you can not entice users to click on google ads or use anything else that could make the google ads more popular. They don't want people just clicking an ad then closing the site that comes up to just raise a counter. They need people to click a site, be interested, and possibly interact with that new site.

more importantly, why would you want to display how many clicks had been made on an advert?

1) it would disclose trade secrets about the popularity of the company who's ad was clicked (which would incur comparisons between it and the other companies on the ad palette)

2) it would disclose trade secrest about your visitors and how likely they are to click ads

both something usually kept secret
