[html] selects and css

This is a question I've been asking myself for quite a bit.
It's about the <select> tag and its borders. They don't seem to be formatted via css in any way. They will always keep that 3D border thing that I don't like at all.
Anyone got info on this?

Currently I believe it is not possible to alter certain aspects of the select tag, including the border, because they are defined by the OS. It is quite annoying.

The popular decision people seem to be doing is creating javascript dropdown menus to replace select forms, but it is a lot of work for a small benefit.

Not sure if this will ever change, but as of now I don't believe it can be done.

I too have tried to find information on CSS tags for <select>, but to no avail. I knew for a fact that <OPTGROUP> is defined by your OS/Browser, so I can only assume that most tags in this area are the same... :/

I thought it was something about the OS/browser... just checking...
Maybe writing a dropdown in js isn't too hard after all.... And I might just use it over again every time I need it . If this thing annoys me enough I'll try that way!
Thanks to both of u.
