Having various troubles.

I am having various troubles with slicing, as simple as it may seem. I take my website that I have created in Photoshop 7, and take it into Photoshop Imageready. I slice it up, name all the different slices, and save as optimized. I then open it in Dreamweaver to TRY to write HTML over it. But even though the entire file shows up in html format, I still cannot write HTML over the images for some reason, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm.. HTML cannot write over images.. unless it uses CSS to handle layers (which I dont like due to the fact its not supported by all browsers)..

In Imageready, were you want to place text, change it from "Image" to "No Image" in the slice options. And then a box, put some text and then you will be able to edit it..

I use photoshop to slice, and then just Save for Web.. but that is me.

You can also put the images in dreamweaver as background, then you can write some text over it.

So it's best that you keep in mind when your slicing up your image in ImageReady where you want to put your text. It's better if your 'textarea' is a solid colour, so it can expand when you put some extra text in it.

I use the cell background technique that Malboroman describes. Its illustrated quite comprehensively in my 'Imageready and Interfaces' tutorial. Just fly onto the 2nd and 3rd pages for all the info you will ever need on this subject...
