Short & sweet, or long & engrossing?
Well, I've just finished Max Payne 2, and although it was kinda short, it was still tons of fun whilst it lasted. The question remains, though - are games better when they are short and sweet, or longer & more engrossing, at the expense of a little polish?
NB. This question excludes RPGs, of course. Hell, if an RPG was short it would kind of eliminate the point of the genre...

To be honest.. I prefer games that are short, sweet and difficult.. makes it all the more rewarding in the end.. and you still keep your life...

Short and Sweet.. long tedious quests // puzzles are really irritating... It's basically manual labor =p.

I think in terms of replayability, the original Unreal is the king for me. I still have it installed on my system and play the occasional cooperative multiplayer game even after 6 yrs!

It's all about the multiplayer though. Multiplayer keeps the game going years and years down the road, like Starcraft.
and I especially hate RPG's that drag on forever and ever.. You're king, now you have to slay another dragon to win a shiny cape!

Multiplayer!! Yes! I agree. That's probably what makes a game fun.
Honestly, I think RPG's are overrated. It takes wayy too long. I get bored fast. Those aren't my type of games.

You know what game i'm still playing? Super Mario World for the SNES.
I actually prefer older games, they are simple, fun, and down to earth. Games these days just focus all on show and are too complicated.
Also i think that online gaming is killing single player....

There's nothing that can compare to competing against other people.
Once in a while I may go offline to play a game or two, but it's always back online where the real competition is. That's where you earn bragging rights, etc.
And also, my favorite games are RTS and single player RTS is you know, crap.

short and sweet are great, long and broing are bad. I hate games when they are long and repetative, it has to have some variation, to be good.

That's the exact reason I don't like RPGs. Too long, too repetative. Overall... boring.
