Apple Mighty Mouse

I've had my iMac for about 8 months now and I ran into a problem with my mouse. The ball all the sudden stopped working to scroll down. It works to scroll up. This is frustrating. Does anybody know a quick fix for this? I do not want to have to spend $50 for another one. I would appreciate anybody's feedback on this.

My scroll wheel sticks sometimes too. I've had to push down on it and scroll up and down. That usually brings it back.

I used to have this issue occasionally. It seems to be from dirt/dust so using a little alcohol or even a damp cloth on the ball worked for me in the past (probably what the link from Moods suggested).

Even if I licked my finger and ran it over the ball it seemed to do the trick.

Man, i love the mighty mouse. It really is a great mouse. But that scroll ball just ruins it. If you only had to option to open up the mouse and clean it.

That, and it not having a physical right mouse button (for games) keeps me from replacing my broken (scrolling won't work anymore. Tried everything) mightymouse. Using standard mouses now.

Thank you for your response. My mouse actually came apart from the bottom and I am going to clean it and see if it fixes the problem. Once again, thanks for your reply. Good luck in the Multi media world!

dont forget to clean the rollers as well as the ball.
those little rubbing alcohol wipes work great.

Lucky. My brother tried to open his carefully, but that plasting seal broke anyway.
