Firefox 3

Just liked to hear your ideas about the latest Firefox version 3.0.1.
Seems to load faster than all other web
browsers
Firefox 3 Memory Usage pavlov.net
I might be old fashioned, but still prefer the old one.

I was contemplating upgrading to version 3.0.1, but apparently some of the extensions that I use most often are not compatible with the new version so I won't be bothering just yet.

I am using 3.01

I do miss some of my developer add-ons, but I had already started weening away from them towards other tools when 3.0 landed. I also have faith that they will soon be available (if not already).

I truly appreciate the new zoom function, as well as the streamlined interface. It also seems to be noticeably faster than 2.x

I have yet to find a significant drawback.

Cheers!

Well I use Firefox 3 at the moment,

and it is true that a some of the plug-ins arent compatible(yet) but most of them are. I use stumbleupon and foxmarks, O and NoScript.....

There are some additional features, that I like, most of them are decorative...but Im not going to list them You can find them on the mozilla page I guess.

hmm... I might have to make this switch to 3... as long as FireFTP is compatible and Firebug... those are main addons I care about.

Dean: if you select Help > Check for Updates... from the Firefox menu bar, it runs a check to see if any installed extensions are not compatible with version 3. You'll see a window similar to the attached. Click on the Show List button (if there is one) to see which extensions will be affected. If you don't see that section, all your extensions are compatible.

Use Nightly Tester that enforces things to work, or read

I have 3.1 with Nightly Tester and no problems.

That's a useful piece of information, Tony. Unfortunately, the fix described only forces extensions to be installed with no warnings etc. (whether or not they are compatible) - it doesn't guarantee that they'll work. I just tried it with an old extension that stopped working after I upgraded to version 2. The extension installed with no problems...but it still doesn't work in version 2.

I've been regularly getting popups from firefox to update, however, this may just be a case of the other forum I'm on having really old code, but when ever someone c/p's a post they've written from Word to the posting box it will randomly add dead hotlinks to it. Sometimes the entire post is a giant link which is rather annoying which is why I'm holding off.

Well seems like we have to get use to new Firefox Whatever we like or not, one thing that is annoying me is the bookmark drop down menu in the address-window.

You can turn off the notification of the update in the options.

There are thousands of themes for Firefox... I use the default install theme and it does not have a drop down bookmark menu in the address bar.. not sure what you mean by that.

Yes I prefer the clean version too. But there is a drop down menu that keeps all my last visited pages including my bookmarks. I can’t find anywhere how to turn off that option.
