I liked it! although im not sure that carrying beer/soda in the same bag as your gear is such a good idea.

Hm.
I can understand some of those situations not with a picture camera, but a video one since I am into video production, and let me tell you that I have had to take awkward measures to get the most beautiful shots.
Once I had to have a woman stand over my body punching downwards at the camera with her sweat just rolling off of me, and hoping to God she wouldn't accidentally hit my camera!
But in the end it is definately worth it when you see your finish product, and can appreciate it a lot more. =]
