Er...because Vista is crap?
Seriously: if you want some help, you're going to have to give us a bit more information.
Error messages? Has it ever loaded? If so, have you recently installed any other applications/drivers, or changed any hardware? Is this a fresh install, or are you upgrading from a previous version of Photoshop? Have you contacted Adobe Tech Support?
Help us to help you.

it doesn't throw back any error, all it does is just disappear
once i click on the setup................it will just disappear
i have given up on it but it is just CS3 and the extended version so i have to like my cs2 more for now
it is not a fresh install but atleast it shouldn't matter.

It shouldn't, but it often does. There's a difference between upgrading an existing installation and installing from scratch. For one thing, did you install the CS3 Beta when Adobe released it a while back? If you did, you have to make sure the Beta version is properly uninstalled before installing the current version.

tamlin's right..vista is crap..its unstable..just like XP, 3 or 4 years ago...microsoft guyz will upgrade the OS gradually..so now XP is stable..wait for another 2 years..then install your vista again and upgrade it online...and everything will be fine...

CS3 works just fine for me in vista BUT it can be difficult to get started, especially in a system that also had a beta of CS3 installed. My recommendation is to do a complete reinstall, making sure all the old CS3 settings are gone first before reinstalling.

You might want to try Adobe's CS3Clean Script to clear up any traces of previous installations:
Adobe - Adobe CS3Clean Script

I use CS3 on Windows Vista
I'm somewhat of a power user when it comes to demanding applications and i gotta say to date, i've had 0 (zero zilch nil nada) problems with Vista.
It is very common for me to have Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Internet Explorer, Firefox, and World of Warcraft all running at the same time with absolutely no hiccups...
I am running Windows Vista Ultimate on a Core2Duo with 4GB of Ram and my install of the Adobe CS3 suite was clean... no beta... but a lot of people try stuffing Vista onto a system designed for Windows 98 with 2GB of Ram or less and then wonder why they have problems with it.
Vista is an excellent system if you give it the resources it needs... if Windows 98 is pushing your system to the limit, don't expect Vista to improve anything.
Please note that I am about as anti-microsoft as it gets... but credit where it's due... Vista is the only MS-OS that hasn't given me grief.

4gb ram is big enough to support the stupid rotating circle of Vista.

Im still using XP, but I have seen systems that run Vista flawless. The only problem I have is the cost for a new PC(which I need anyway) and the software itself....
And for all Vista-haters out there, try to look at the system requirements and compare them to your system

I'd have to disagree with that. The thing is the transfer stage, Vista is still new, and it will take time for software and the new OS to be compatible. The same thing happened when win2k and xp came out. With that said, I am using XP and probably won't switch for another year or until i am FORCED, like they are trying to do with all the latest hardware drivers, but that's another story.
As for the program not running, I hear nothing but issues and instabilities with using vista 64 Bit version and adobe products, it is not supported at all, and I don't think that adobe will do anything to make it work on that platform, so if that's the version of vista, you might be out of luck. I'd just ask adobe for some assistance on the issue if you are using Vista 32 bit.

Thanks for getting this thread back on track, agentxi. My original remark about Vista was only half-serious - I know a lot of people who have had various problems with Vista, and I certainly have no plans to change from XP just yet - but amid all the Vista-bashing (and the occasional bit of Vista-praising) I think we've lost sight of the initial problem.
Since the original poster has not replied recently I can only assume that the problem has been fixed or that they're not bothered any more. Unless we get an update within the next couple of days I see no reason not to close this thread. Anyone disagree?
