There is a way to keep street photography alive. Me and a small community of friends developed it, it's called "Hit and run". The title pretty much explains it, but the thing is we do it groupwise. The shooter takes a few quick shots until one of the mates alerts of any potential danger of security or other alike, the shooter runs and on the closest streetcorner waits the anchor of the mission with an open backbag where the runner dumps the camera, yet keeps running. The one with the bag just walks away. We don't usually go to such extremes, but sometimes it's necessary. Can you imagine taking a shot of the American embassy when they don't really want you to? Well yes, we have done that once. It got close.
