Folder Drag N Drop

Ok, easy question. LOL. I just dont know the answer. Boss asked me how come when you drag a document from the desktop and drop it into another folder on our G drive why does it only make a copy and original stays on the desktop.... BUT when I take that file from the desktop to the my docs folder it moves it completely and the file is gone from the desktop....

HELP! lol.

This is yet another case of Windows making assumptions about what you want to do.
When you drag'n'drop from one drive to another, Windows assumes you want to Copy the file, not Move it. When you drag'n'drop from one location to another on the same drive, it assumes you want to Move the file.

To make your intentions clear, drag'n'drop with the RIGHT mouse button pressed, not the left - when you release the button at the new location, a context menu will appear, giving you the choice to Copy Here, Move Here or Create Shortcuts Here.

Hope this helps.
