Nero cannot read disks

Hope someone can help. I have images on disks that were burnt by Nero software. As I don't have Nero now I want to view them and use the pics and can't. Any ideas? I don't use Nero now as the people I have burnt CD's for can't view them and the printers could not print the pics either. Any ideas, preferably freeware?

It's a bit fogy for me, the question...

Do you have images(.iso) that you made from an CD and then burned them onto an other CD?

Or do you have images(.jpg) like artwork like pictures??

If it's the first you should download Deamontools, if not....well that makes it harder. I recomend just installing an old version of NERO and try to copy the images to you HD so you can burn/ use them later on....

I suspect you are in the later category of unleash's post...

If so, it may not be a matter of NERO or any other software used to burn the images but rather a case of drive compatibility.

The standard now for CD-ROM's is CD-R but there were times when CD+R and CD+/-R were widely available.

It is possible that either A. The CD-Roms were burned on an older drive that is not compatible with -R readers (common on most systems now) or B. Your drive is not a -R drive and cannot read -R discs.

There are also RW discs which allow multi-sessions... if a session is not closed, you may not be able to read the disc on a different drive... and, now this is a guess, but an educated one, you may need the NERO software to finalize the session.

If you Right-Click on the CD-Rom Drive in My Computer, it should tell you the file system and session info... make sure the file system is NTFS or FAT

I assume you're using Windows (XP?)

Mike.

Thanks it is the later one and Mike I suspect I had not closed the session with Nero. I was however using an up to date laptop only a few months old and the disk was burned on on older CD writer on my desk comp. It looks as if I shall have to get a copy of Nero to get at the files and pics.

Thanks for your replies. No wonder I chucked Nero away!

Hi Tony,

you can download a free copy of nero from their site. Nero – Nero 8 - Trial it's only good for 15 days, but at least you can access the cds. Another way is to use winrar to look at the actual files inside of the .iso

Hope this helps,

Greg
