Shields or coat of arms

Does anyone know what they call the leaves that wrap around a shield, or a coat of arms?

Not entirely sure, but I think it might be mantling or lambrequins.

Although it looks like leaves, it's actually supposed to represent drapery: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mantling

Nice find there, moods! I think "mantling" is the correct term, looking at this page: http://www.fleurdelis.com/mantlings.htm

And Mantling it is! Well done Tamlin.

The Crest for my married name has three red stars and a wild boar. Great. I've got a fat pig with stars around it's head like it was hit with a frying pan.

Well, according to that site:

Red = Warrior or martyr; Military strength and magnanimity
Boar = Bravery; fights to the death
Stars = Celestial goodness; noble person

Not too shabby!

This is the coat of arms for my family name (including mantling!):
