A simple way to exlpain and show what is colour and how it relates to photography

Hi, I am hoping you might help. I am taking the local photographic group in October as the person who usually takes it is away. My thinking is to talk about colour and how it relates to photography. Is there a simple way of explaining this as these are mainly people that come along just to know how to make a better photo. This is a village in the back waters of West Wales and we surprisingly get 8 to 15 people. Most are point and shoot but as time has gone by they have gone a little way forward and the photos have improved immensely. So simple is the key word here and if there is a way to demonstrate it would be great.

Colour theory is a pretty complex subject, but there are a few places that can offer some ideas and advice.

Examples:
Colour Theory
Tutorials - Color Perception
Graphics.com: The shared resource for creative design

Hope this helps.
