Party Invite Design's In Photoshop CS2

Hey every1, first time poster here... just thort i'd post a question sorta thing. My mate asked me to design a party invite for his 18th. These invites are 4 by 3 inches long, so your basic card shape. And i did a design and had different concepts for it and that, just would like some feedback on it or maybe there own ideas or tips or even photo's of designs...

Just a note all info on the invite has been changed so no stalkers find my mates address... lol...

thanks every1

Hi zeroman2007 and welcome to BioRUST.
There are a number of professional print media designers here who will no doubt be able to give you some good advice.
Just a small point: you might want to reduce the font size in your posts.

zeroman, I made some comments on the gallery posting of this, but something I neglected to mention was the color choices. The darker color shades really blend with the dark black background. If you are going to use the alternating colors, I would try to lighten the color options up a bit.

By the way, I love that you went with a more traditional font choice for this. Most of these type of pieces end up having an over the top font that takes away from the design.

Thanks stiney for your feedback, it was very helpful. I altered the files to give you an idea what they could look like just black and white and text size unbolded and/or a size smaller... Please let me no if you like the changes i've made or not. Thanks again every
p.s i realize that i may not have started this thread in the correct cad and just sayin i'm sorry next time it will be in the correct cad.
also thanks tamlin for the tips and welcome.

I think it's an improvement, but I've attached more of what I was suggesting. The silhouettes and the white space (black space in this case ) should stand out in the design.

You might also want to play with a slightly different font or maybe try to not italicize the whole thing.

You are on the right track with this and I think even the first versions were a very good start.

(by the way, I like the drummer best out of the 4 silhouette options, but using 4 versions would be pretty cool).

Forgot to attach it...

As for lighter colors, generally blues and purples will work the worst on a black background in my experience. So try to stay with a warmer color (yellow, or a light orange or red would work).

Just to add to stiney's comments...remember to design in CMYK for print. Also get a a one-run proof copy from the printers before you mass produce them.

Here's some samples of what your designs could look like in both colour print and black and white if you don't design in CMYK mode...
