getting more people involved
this is a great website and friendly
it's a lot different than other websites
and the biocredits and rep is good when you get into it
if we could somehow get more people to make more comments on picture's
i think more comments would be given and maybe different people would be more likely to post and vist again, what appels to me is that there are different kinds of art, styles, and levels that people are at and they are all welcome and all the friendly vibes you get off this website, unlike others websites.
forums.
the forums are good and everybody likes forums coz it's good to unite and talk about things that you love doing and learning stuff,if more people where to join in the forums then it would only better biorust and our community that we are "well thats the way i see it" it would be great to see the forums busy all the time.
i like biorust it's friendly and good to use
ican only stay thanks to every that makes biorust what it is.
nice one andy

I visit a number of other graphic design forums (fora?), but BioRUST is the only one where I've actually registered. To me, it already seems that there's a lot more activity here than on other sites and the user community here seems a lot more friendly and civilized than some others (not mentioning any names).

I think it comes from the friendliness on the stripes. You can be a total stranger, just registered and then PM him and he's still friendly and does his best to help you out. Not like one case i've met somewhere else: "Who the heck are you?"
Twentyfive thousand thumbs up, m0g.

Tamlin speaks truth; many of the 'fora' (sounded good to me), have membership numbers that don't even reach hundreds, much less thousands or more. It is true that many of our members are not active on a regular basis, but that is the nature of the game so to speak. Many of us have jobs that require us to be 'in and out' on a regular basis. Sometimes the 'out' portion becomes months, but, we come back. There must be a good reason for that. For me it is BioRust itself. People are friendly, caring, and genourous (sp?)with their knowledge.
Any thoughts you have on how to acquire more regular activity on the site would be welcome by all, Mog has never turned away a reasonable idea.

I bet if we could convert our BioRUST credits to Cash, the forum would be busier than any of us would like!
That said, i find BioRUST is a perfect balance between quantity and quality...
Theres is so much here that BioRUST is not the same thing to everyone... to me, it's not the same thing everyday... when the forums are busy, that may be all I have time for, when they are slow, I check out the Battles and the Galleries...
I say the success is 50% delivery (Man1c M0g has done an incredible job with the look and flow of the site) and 50% content which is to say the people...
Fortunately, the group at BioRUST seem well, more evolved than other ahem... forums. Repsonses are constructive, thoughtful and genuinely reflect the community spirit.
Adventures like the Mural's and the WallPaper Tile project multiply the BioRUST experience for me.
I wondered at first how the magic could last, but now, after a few months of daily visits, I see that BioRUST attracts like-minded users and when some are absent, the others carry the torch...
All that said, Tamlin is the glue that binds us! (lol)
Mike.

Actually i think you are pretty right, notjustgraphics. Tamlin is activity multiplied. He finds time to respond to almost every topic (how does he do that?)

Gosh guys - you're embarrassing me!
In answer to your question, turvas: I have an army of elves working for me, constantly monitoring the BioRUST forums...

Now that I have joined Bio Rust I think I am luck. This is the 1st & only site I have joined. For all the same reasons that Tamlin & Mike stated.
TG I have no horror stories from other sites this is my first experince.
So I am very happy to be here with such like minded people.
Yes I would like more input on my pix.... but what artist would not.
So why do we not agree to post our coments on each others stuff on the gallery...... That is a start.

I have been thinking on this.
I admit to being reluctant to make sugestions on site enhancing, it is already just fantantasic, and feel that if i did have some idea on what might make something even better i would only be nit picking..
This does not mean ideas dont come to me.. i am horrible like that, as my husband pointed out last week there is nothing I dont look at and see it as being perfect just as it is, Im terrible in that I always think it could have this or that, so usualy I keep my big mouth shut for good manners..
personaly I love comments and sugestions even if they hate my stuff, any comment for or against is a gift. I certainly would not be hurt if I put an image up for review to get it ripped appart by critics, If this would upset me i would know that im in the wrong game.
But then again Im 38 years old, I would hate to say anything that might discourage a 15 year olds artistic development, perhaps if we knew when posting a comment if the image was created by a juniour member, or even just to know the members experience level would help feel more comfortable knowing what an appropriate comment might be.
So for my explanation of posting this is not to say it is not just right as it is, and there is no way I want to be adding extra work where there doesnt have to be..
What about space credits for comments on gallery pictures ( but I am not at all complaining about space, I am absolutly taken aback with the generosity I discovered..lol, Im not sure if this was a system glitch so I might be quiet on that untill I work out what happened, lol ) perhaps space could be limited to say 5 pictures, then each comment after that buys the poster more space.
another thought came to mind of allowing the image owner to accept guest comments by choice, The draw back with this one would be that this would open the door to spam messeges dropped in as comments..
anyawys thats my 2cents

I'm busy on various boards, mostly scifi related. I've met some very talented people through those sites. I would be happy to mention Biorust to everyone I see online. Heck, I'll even add it to my fave links in my profiles.
I have yet to comment on anything in the gallery. I just haven't gotten around to it. I'm still trying to read all the threads, heh. I will comment. I know I've learned a lot from critiques.

Hi Tammy,
Some very good points you make there. I have to admit that I don't quite understand the obsession that some people have about getting comments on their work. When I post my stuff in the Gallery, I don't do it thinking "Let's see how many comments I can get for THIS!" Sure, praise is great and positive criticism is even better, but if someone posts a comment like "Nice job" just to get some more Biocredits, what's the value of that?
If I like an image, and can isolate the reason why, then I'll make a comment to that effect. If I can see ways in which an image could be improved, then I'll offer some suggestions. If I don't like an image at all, I'll most likely not post a comment, because I recognise that art is probably the most subjective thing there is and everyone can't like everything. However, just because I don't offer a comment doesn't mean I don't like a piece of work - I very rarely comment on work in areas that either doesn't interest me (like manga) or where I have no knowledge or experience (such as 3D modelling). This doesn't mean that I dislike the work - I just don't feel qualified to make a meaningful comment.
The point you make about encouraging younger members is very true. My daughter (who's 16) is an excellent artist (much better than me) but she's also very sensitive to criticism so I always try to encourage her as much as possible. I'm sure that as she matures she will become more confident in her abilities and will be able to benefit from positive criticism and resist negative criticism. It's true that we don't always know the age or experience level of contributors here, but if we all try to offer meaningful, helpful, constructive comments it will benefit all members, regardless of age or experience.
Sorry for writing a novel. I'll go now...

When I first entered the world of Photoshop a few months back, I didn't know a damn thing. So, I browsed the net looking for tutorials and/or help with what the heck I was doing/going to do.
Then I eventually stumbled upon BioRust. I remember I immediately went right for the downloads section nabbing whatever looked neat. And to think at the time I didn't even know what a layer style was. All I knew is that I had this awesome art program that could make cool looking crap.
Then my credits ran out. I was like, crap, now what? So, I began browsing the site a bit more, learning I could comment on art, post art, post in the forums, and so forth. This intrigued me some.
I thought posting my art would be a pretty happening thing. So, it was obvious that's what I did. Not for the credits, mind you, just to show off what I could do, well, more or less of what I couldn't do.
Well, I think I ended up posting like twenty or so wallpapers based on a video game that I'm a fan of, DarkStalkers. They all bumped everyone else's art off the front page. To make it worse, they all had slight variations. I thought a blue and black gradient was kick ass back then, don't ask. So, all you could see was these blue wallpapers with different characters all over the homepage of BioRust.
I honestly didn't know all of them would be posted at once. I was thinking only a few, and the rest would end up in my own gallery.
Well, someone had made a comment that I was posting spam. Yeah, there were some words between us, and Tamlin was the ref. Ah, memories.
After all was said and done, I was shocked I didn't get banned for all those posts. All I could wonder is what people thought of me for posting all those wallpapers, much less, crappy work, lol. I was almost afraid to come back.
My experience with BioRust has been right on since then. I just don't post as much at once now. In fact, I'm afraid to post more than two items in one day!
All in all, I love the people here like they were family, just without the noise and annoying phone calls in the middle of the night. I just wish to say thank you to everyone here for their continuous contributions to the BioRust community and making my stay a pleasant one indeed. You people rock!

Hmm, I think I was the "spam" guy
don't really like spam on a forum like this, I've seen alot of fora(sounded good to me too ) on my journey in 3D graphics, but this is the only one that hooked on to me and never let go. And I don't think that was a bad thing.
I was here a long time before some of you, so I saw the forum grow. Some people went, and came back later on(right bedlam123?). It was pretty intriging seeing this forum grow and grow. And now its even better then before. *duh
now I think we should from this moment on call ourselves the biorusteers, on a journey to a special helpfull forum, with all nice members. All for one, and ......
About the banning, I rather have no one banned. Just tell people that they could be wrong works fine for me!! And happely for me that ain't my part, nope thats part of the huge elvish army under tamlin's controll.
Tamlin I do wonder, where do you keep this army of elves?? even though there tiny they do need room don't they?

Nah, I still remember who it was who said I was spamming, wasn't you. But it's all good, it's old news.
Oh, just because you're one of the high ups on this site and have a cooler sounding name than I do, doesn't mean I'll let you get away with using the term "BioRustier" without paying me royalties!
I own the rights to that term, brotha man!, although you spelled it differently than I and it just might possibly be the correct spelling, that doesn't matter!
But I agree, this is the "Home of the BioRustiers"....or BioRusteers.
Art for one, art for all! ...or something like that.
