Using your scanner as your camera can be fun. This was a class project some years back before everyone had a Digital Camera.
This subject came up here in the General forum thread. A person was interested in having a piece of Denim fabric to use in an art piece. So I suggested scanning the fabric. Then Tony_photoplus said there are lots of things that can be scanned. Not just cloth for textures but feathers, coins the list goes on.
Sometimes shiny things don't photography too well, so maybe try the scanner.
What is on the scanner first will be the sharpest. What is behind those things will look more distant or maybe darker.
If you are scanning something, which is not flat, or a flower (that you don't want to smash) you can use the lid of a box to cover your objects. Just don’t put any liquid on the scanner.
I think today with Digital cameras we don't use these techniques as much. So the light bulb went on, and I remembered two pieces from a class project a few years ago.
Sometimes lots of trial and error, but that can also be the fun part. I’m just spoiled today with a digital camera.
I'm on my way to upload them now.
You can check my gallery to see two of my scanned pieces. Comments always welcome.
