Shape one image to another?

Was wondering how I take, say a tribal tattoo looking image and put it on top of a face or other body part and make it form to the contour of the face or body part, like how shadows rest on an object.

Any tutorials on this?

Many thanks.

If you're asking about doing this in Photoshop try some of these tutorials. Using the Warp option you can get the contours correct.

Have a look also at Bump Mapping...

You can create a bump map of the target region and then apply the bump map as a distortion to the tattoo... The result will be a perfect match!

Here are a couple of tutorials that explain the process fairly well:

Wrapping objects with Displacement Maps in Photoshop (Probably all you'll need)

Photoshop Displacement Map Example

A couple of notes about bump maps (or disaplacement maps):

1. When you save your map, make sure it's in .PSD format\
2. Make sure to save your map near the top of your folders... Photoshop will not work if the full path name to the map is too long but does not give you an error message.

Hope this helps,

Mike.

useful suggestions have already been made, and that's what this forum is here for after all. However, I just wanted to point out that for future posts of this nature, it's best if you put them in the appropriate section, this would have best suited for the "Adobe Photoshop" section. Best of luck in the future, and I hope you come here with any questions you might have.
