Very very nice PC m8. If you are going for an 80gb hard-drive, though, can I recommend the WD Raptor 78gb? Its 10krpm and BLISTERINGLY fast - you'll find all disk ops take next to no time at all, and if you ever run out of ram when fiddling in photoshop it'll make the disk paging as painless as possible.

I don't want anything other than IDE though, you must be discussing Sata?

Not to mention, apparently you have AMD (Avatar) which < Intel in my opinion. Keep in mind..
I have PC-4000 RAM, highly cooled 9800Pro, allowing for much more speed after overclocking, or even the way it is, it will be much faster.

Well, I got a bunch of stuff today for the computer, waiting for the video card to ship in, likely tomorrow, upon which I will build the computer.

thats a cool spec, i wouldnt build another custom pc. they seem to be to much hassle to assemble. I am now saving up for a 17in powerbook and an iboxx rendering farm. Now that is some awesome spec to have.

I've never heard anyone who has made a custom PC say they would rather got back to OEM. That's insane!

Hey, everytime I build a PC it becomes more and more custom-built! The last PC I made sported two large radiators for watercooling, making the system over 20% automobile in origin. God knows what my next project is gonna look like...

bleh but this thing im buying is practically my own rackmounted server which means i have about 10 pcs in one with a total clock speed of 30ghz only on applications that enable me to use networked pc's, like rendering 3d images since rendering can be spread across many different pc's. In basic functions like browsing the web and using xp professional it will only be able to use one of the rack pc's which means the normal speed is 3ghz.
I have built many systems in my life, it always works out cheaper, but since i am becoming more of a serious designer, the usual gamer style pc isn't suited to my needs any more. I NEED MORE POWER, thats why i am buying a rackmounted server designed for rendering.
I also find that i always get a couple of little quirks when i build my own pc. A system built by a company always seems more polished than what i can produce.
