Graphic Design Course

Ok, so I have an associates in web design, which I paid 20 grand for a piece of **** education, this site has allowed me to learn and gain skills that Ive needed that I should have learned in school. So my question and concern is that Im pretty much fine with coding, CSS and HTML and I could learn PHP and what is needed. Whats the difference between PHP and ASP? Are they the same? Ok that wasnt my quesetion but it was something I just thought of, Well I actually want to be more graphical inclined. I want to get more of out my photoshop program is it worth taking a class or should I just do a whole **** load of tuts or??? What do you guys think, can you guys point me into a direction? Anything will help.. Thanks

First part:
PHP is an open source object-oreinted scripting language. Essentially it is the main language used on *nix based servers. Though I am pretty sure it can also be used on MS IIS servers but I am not sure.

ASP is the Microsoft scripting language. It is native to the IIS web server, though I think there is a module for Apache that is able to utilize ASP.

Further explanation on details would take a lot of time and someone better than me.

For learning graphical design, I would suggest that rather than work on tutorials and such, look around for articles on design theory. Understanding the reasons "why" a layout works and looks good is much more useful than just being able to create one. For overall web theory A List Apart: A List Apart has some very nice articles. Look through their archives.

Despite this, it is also very important to continue working on graphical skills. Personally I try to create one full work, from start to finish, every week. Not necessarily a full website or huge render. Some projects are very small and some are larger, dependent on the amount of time I have. Also try using different manipulations tool, and tolls that you do not commonly use. And as a generic tip to graphic design, I would strongly suggest to not attempt to create an entire work in one sitting. Consistently working for long hours will develop habituation and you will most likely start missing pieces of your work. You need the breaks to keep the project fresh.

Anyway, best of luck.

Ok I don't know if this will help but with photoshop I've learnt a lot just by looking at tutorials online. I think that's a better way of looking into it then spending money on things or at least a way to get into things. I supose it matters on how much in depth you wanna get really (Like I said I wont probbably be any help)

yep and list apart rocks I use it mostly for css stuff

I worked with Photoshop for many years, but, let me say about 2 years ago I stoped seeing anything new. But this year I laid my hands on one awesome video tutorial, Total training for Adobe Photoshop CS2 by Deke McLeland ,.,.,.,. extra material, helped me a lot. I also saw some video tuts from Lynda and they are OK.
PHP ,.,.,.,. I learnd a lot working for some American company which is in bussines with web crawlers
CSS ,.,.,. A list apart and many other CSS tut sites.
So I don't know if I was of any help to you
