CCC aka Triple C's (m0g, read)

This is an open discussion about a pill known as the "Triple C" that many of my friends and teenagers these days are using to get a DXM high. The discussion is pointed at m0g, because I would imagien he'd be the only one with any valuable information on them, but I made it public so everyone could see rather than PMing him.

Triple C's are Coricidin Cold and Cough. It is not prescription, but I know many kids are popping up to 30 or 40 of these things at once. Now, I have not had any of my friends have any problems off of them, but I'm sure some side effects are possible. What do you know about this drug m0g?

It's easily the mostp opular drug for young teenagers who are lightweight drug users.

From my initial studies, CCC mainly contains Dextrometorphan as its active ingredient, a well known cough supressant and occasional drug of abuse. It is quite low toxicity compared to many other abused medicines, but the main side effects are hallucinations and euphoria. The effects can also be dangerously potentiated by simultaneous ingestion of alcohol and/or other psychotropic drugs. Like most opioid-based compounds, it can cause variable amounts of nausea, vomiting, and respiratory depression (i.e. you could stop breathing). This is more of a problem with morphine, but can't be ruled out for this compound. Hypotension (low blood pressure) and rapid-heart beat (tachycardia), are unlikely, but potentially serious complications.

Thanks for the information. Would you say that its pretty safe compared to other drugs on a person - to - person level instead of pharmacist - to - person level? Would you say that most people will be okay after taking them?

If you asking for my professional opinion m8, I cannot help you there - I only offer advice on drugs given for therapeutic purposes. I can't condone or rationalize any narcotic versus another - all drugs are bad when abused, mmmkay?

Well, 30-40 can't be healthy. Oh the boxes, it says to take 3-4 times a day? That's 10 times the amount. I'm guessing there has to be serious health problems, and maybe some long term effects.

Seriously though, in the short term this drug is probably safer than the 'harder' alternatives, but breaking down that much drug on a semi-regular basis is gonna be hell for your liver, and the long-term health implications have gotta be scary...

Alex, I highly doubt m0g will give approval of doing drugs. Also, but it's safer than 'harder' alternatives doesn't mean you should take it.

The people I know take them, from what I see, about once every 2 weeks. *shrugs* Over time that could kill your liver but if they only did it for 2 months, which means 4 times, I doubt they'd see much difference? Would you agree m0g?

I've heard similar arguements used to rationalize solvent and LSD abuse. Its impossible to say if your individual exposure will be harmless or fatal - it varies wildly on the individual. Occasional use makes it no less dangerous.

4x which equals 160 pills. 160 which equals 40 times the recommended dosage. [Sarcasm]Seems perfectly fine to me. [/Sarcasm] Alex, are you seeing my point though? I'm not trying to be rude but CCC could be endangering your friend's lives.

Just like any other drug. I'd assume CCC is much safer than ecstacy, but that still doesn't mean you should take it.

My friends wouldn't touch ecstacy, but its a whole different feeling that ecstasy, from what I know.
