The software that comest with apples is extremely superior to that of windows, but the difference is in the price. Technically apples cost less (in the long run(software, hardware replacement, etc...)) but most people are short sighted and only see that a pc tower cost 800 bucks and a mac cost 1200. When It comes to hardware, they are about the same. Your cant customize a mac(easily) but there is really no need to do so since the hardware/software designers knew what they were doing and made the software as efficent as possible. Oh yeah and the mac doesn't have many games. Another point is that macs are beautiful and computers, just look like computers. I personally would love to have a mac, but my dad has been using computers all his life and is hesitant to switch.
Actually I have started to think of it like this. A computer was designed by hardcore coders and made for other coders. This means computers are really technical and complicated, really hard to learn too. Macs were made by coders but they had an idea of what normal people would need, and what they would want. Macs are made for normal people. Except for that part with the ctrl click to right click, Im not really sure whats up there.
Anyway thats just my opinion, and I don't want a mac vs. pc war so everyone be nice.

that's a tough one
I've worked with both of them (which a lot of people have), and they're both great computers. The advantage to the Mac is that there aren't many viruses to screw you up. PC's has enough viruses to destroy a human life. Another thing the Mac has is Quark Xpress. after 5.0, Quark decided to ONLY make for the Mac. So those people that are used to it on the PC would have to switch to a Mac just to use that program. The few things that the PC has is, of course, Windows Media Player. Other than that, either one is great. I own a PC so I guess PC rocks?

It's funny that every time this topic comes up, someone always mentions that there are hardly any games for Macs. How important that is, depends on the reason you bought your computer in the first place.
In any case, I'm disappointed in the G5 OS X computers. What used to be a user friendly, comprehensive computer has exponentially degraded into a codehead PC. No slam on PC's (after all, they're great for games!), but I've had Mac's for years and became very comfortable with their usability. Now the Mac requires Permissions that get corrupted at every whip-jerk - who's bright idea was that?
Bottom line is that both platforms have their good and bad points.

I haven't actually been in the same room with one of Steve Jobs' systems since the Apple IIe I used back in high school, so I can only comment on what I've read and heard.
Back in the day, Macs were the "go to" systems for graphics and video processing because PCs couldn't match their capabilities. Today, however, that great divide has gotten much smaller. With Apple systems now being built with Intel processors and talk of incorporating a Windows OS onto the Mac (see Digg), that line is becoming blurrier by the day.
Personally, I prefer the PC. I like to tinker and Macs simply aren't made for that, as Jimmy eluded to.
Then there's the cost factor. Today, you can get a PC for around $300 that is infinitely more powerful than one that cost $3000 a decade ago. Sure, there's the $500 Mac Mini - but, hey...

Windows, definitely. I have used both Mac and PC, in school and work. For me, I have found the PC's perform better.I am not a gamer, so that aspect is not important to me. The pronters I use ust seem to function (RIP) better, quicker with a PC. Also, I would be completely lost withou my right-click!---bedlam123

Well, I'd have to agree that the OS on the macs is superior to windows, but that's it basically. Everything else is better on the PC (viruses etc. related to OS.) There's alot more software and tons more games for Windows. And now, when the macs have a core-duo, they have lost all their performance advantage over the PC (the new macs are a basically PC's, and you can run Windows on them).
If you had asked me three years ago would I buy a Mac (if I had the money that is), I would have said definetly, now, I would say no. Bad Apple.

Couple years ago I would agree that Macs are the most beautiful computers but in the present day, you have so many selection of design for (windows) computers. Imo some of them are better looking than the Macs.
Imo it doesnt matter mac or windows as long it suits you, function smoothly and youre comfortable with it.

I've got a Mac, and for graphics, I can't say that I'd be happy with anything else. The only thing I can't stand is that it won't play many of the games that are out today.
