Currently, this is the only place you can find me.
I still have an account at deviantART, but I got so sick of seeing the "Operation Timed Out" dialog every time I tried to do anything - post an image, comment on someone else's work, or even reply in the forums - that I took all of my stuff down and left. I check back every couple of weeks to see if things have gotten better but, considering that I can't even log in half of the time, I'd guess they haven't.
I'd say that BioRust is a better community than deviantART because of the fact that it's not nearly as large. Being here feels like walking through my neighborhood, whereas there is more like being lost in the big city.

You are right zapphnath, sometimes smaller is better, and Biorust definitely has a high level of 'quality', wouldn't you agree?

Thanks guys! Unlike DeviantArt, my aim is not to HOST the world's images, but rather to teach the world how to MAKE better images. Doing this keeps the community tight and still rather friendly. Of course, there is always room for improvement... and opinions are highly welcome!

Not to mention that deviantART is just a big ol' popularity contest.
Or that, if you post something anime/manga/yaoi/hentai-related or add some blood and a bloody knife or someone nude, you're guaranteed a hundred "pageviews" and a couple "faves" (which are used, of course, to judge your popularity) within the first ten minutes.
Or that the average comment is "Teh roxorzzz!!111!!!!1!1!!". (Ugghh!!)

Gaaaah... I hate deviantart :P
Not because of its largeness... but its slowness ^^ It takes forever to do ANYTHING, like you guys were saying. And it's not like you can ever get noticed at all amongst all those faceless hordes of people :P
Also, I don't think deviantart is easy enough to get around on personally.
This place seems very nice though

And people actually care a bit that you do in fact exist ^^

As for other forums... I've been on hundreds of them... quite literally :P I'm a complete forum junky. But I've cut down to maybe 6 that I remain active on. Just can't keep up with that much stuff... plus many of them were smaller forums that ended up petering out and dying :P
