Wireless Drawing Tablets

I just ordered a new graphire bluetooth drawing tablet and I'm fairly certain that I'll find it much easier to work with than my bloody mouse, but I got to thinking, if some of you folks have a tablet what do you think of it? I mean, is it that much more useful to you? Got any troubles? I'm just curious at this point, I mean, heck, I already bought the thing.

There are mixed opinions. I don't have one nor do I need one due to the little bit that I actually do art. Many swear by them -- I have a friend that loves drawing on paper and loves his tablet. Some people say they are awful.

To answer your question... You'll have to decide for yourself.

That's a fair answer, Bub. Can't ask for more than that. Perhaps my love of the old school paper and pen will transfer over to the tablet. Guess I'll find out soon enough.

Thanks again.

Well, I bought a tablet and didn't get along with it at all. Mind you, I've been using the mouse for over 10yrs, so old habits die hard. You might find it easier or more intuitive...

I too have a tablet. ^ ^ It was quiet humerous when I first got it. I didn't have the settings to where it matched my desktop so the tablet and my screen were off by oh....>>; 400 or more pixles. *cough* I'magoober*cough*
It took me a while to get the hang of it but it's great.
Also don't put your tablet pen in the pen cup with the rest of the writing utensils. >>; another easy panic when you think you've lost the bloody thing and it's right there in front of you.

I have a graphire too. The first time you use it is very weird. But you get used to it. Nothing is as good as a Wacom for drawing and painting digitaly!
But I don't paint that much

I have the Wacom Intuos 3 9X12 tablet and love it. I do a lot of photography and I find that the pen works much better for me than a mouse does, especially for subtle shading and touch ups. This tablet also is pressure and tilt sensitive so my pen becomes an amazingly versatile tool. And the keys are programmable so many of my most commonly used PS functions are now accomplished by pressing a key on the tablet while I am using the pen instead of switching back to the keyboard.

I have an old intous. I am quite happy with it... Takes a while to get used to but worth it alltogether.

For those who use a wireless tablet, are they ever dodgy (inacturate, jumpy, slow, etc) and how much power do they use/how often do you have to replace the batteries?

Personally, I dont see much point in a tablet being wireless... well unless you want to hold it like a clipboard but other than that they may as well be wired... same thing with wireless keyboards... no point in it being wireless. (Well it boosts the battery company's sales )

I have a rather small graphire tablet myself, that hardest thing is getting around the plastic. It is a different feel then pencil or pen on paper, since you are using plastic on plastic, overall it is fun to doodle with.

Graphire3 5 x 4 Tablet serves well for me. I would love one of the higher end ones where you can see what you're drawing!

Cheers

Wacom Intuos 6x9

I have a Wacom Intuos 6x9, and I love it. It is wierd to draw in your lap, or prooped against the desk while your eyes are glued to the screen... and then you wonder why your pen isns't working because you picked up the wrong one with out even looking down!!

I did these two pictures with in 2 days of getting my tablet (don't be too harsh), and i could never have done it with a mouse in the 3 or 4 minutes that each actually took.

//edit: I just posted these pics to the gallery, so you might have seen them already.

A Disco Alien, because that's what the random shapes suggested to me
