The Macish feel is too much like a cartoon to me. I'd rather a straight forward gui that has the essentials without the oversized icons and bright colors.

I use a mac and a windows station for work, along with linux and even plain command line shells, you get used to what you are working on, and it won't bother you really, just a matter of getting over it.
Anyone who is stupid enough to claim that something is better then another doesn't know what they are talking about, each system has advantages over the other.

Nah Macish isn't a bad thing! I used Mac for years and still do sometimes...I just wish Windows would have come up with something entirely new and original for Vista

Yea it has the feel of being made for children and fancy shmancy fun stuff rather than for professional users...still haven't decided if I like that or not
Let's hope Vista doesn't have this problem in the market >>>

Well, I hope there is an option to reduce icon size greatly, beacuse 200 by 400 icons arent very appealing...

I agree. I'm not saying Windows is better than Mac or vice versa. Just saying that they both have pretty unique looks right now. Why would windows try to look like the competition?

The thing I don't get is why the only thing you guys are thinking about is that it will look different.... who cares?
The programming is the interesting part... and the whole 64 bit compatibility thing. And the support for alpha transparency... wheeee!

Most likely none of that stuff that you mentioned will work correctly on the release date knowing Microsoft. The look is almost guarenteed the work correctly.
Plus, we are a design community so we concentrate on appearance.

lol... so true. Microsoft always takes years to work out their program, shortly after abandoning it completely when they come out with something newer
But yes, if I wanted it to look pretty... I'd download a windows skin :P

People have a tendancy to get bored with the visuals of their operating systems with in a couple of weeks/months. Therefor i personaly consetrate more on the technical parts of a new operating system. If you want you'r os pretty, just download some skins
