Its an evocative subject... so what do you guys & gals think about it? If the responses are positive enough I may let you in on something i'm planning for the non too distant future (for myself ).

I think a few piercings are okay. The same with tatoos. As long as the tatoos aren't large (i.e. cover the entire back/arm/leg etc).

I personally wouldn't want a tatoo or a piercing though.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. This is something you ARE NOT suposed to do:

m0g... you should go for it if you are sure that you really want it. Considering your *cough-cough* lifestyle that you don't openly flaunt in the design community I think it'd look good on you.

Just remember that it's a permanent thing. And it'll hurt like hell :P

I personally don't like piercings except on women (and not many then). As for tatoos, I agree with S2F, small ones are great as long as they reflect you. Large ones are a major turnoff for me.
My opinion really doesn't matter cause I, personally, wouldn't have either

Hmm, opinion time, here goes:

Piercings are good, as long as you arent stretching them out.. skin is not supposed to have gaping holes in it..

Tatoos, are kinda lame, after all, you are putting ink under your skin.. if you want such, go for it, but for the time and pain involved, you better like it.

I personally would not get piercings or tatoos, mainly because I dont want the pain.. or having to hassle with jewlery which I dont wear...

Now that my opinion is out, whatcha planning m0g?

My lifestyle? LOL! You make it sound like i'm into BDSM or something Ev! As for the idea, it can all be explained by this URL: http://www.gus-the-cat.org/tattoo/ . I think its kinda classy and won't attract any stigma in the UK (we are not as reserved as many Americans think). The idea of pain, and lack of non-dodgy tattoo shops here, is the only thing making me hold back at the moment. LOL.

I have three tattoos. One on my right shoulderblade (rosebud, lame I know but I was 18) one on my left arm (J.R.R. Tolkien's trademark symbol) and one on my lower back (husband's name in elvish, entwined with an infinity symbol)

I love them all and I am really glad I have them.

The one on my lower back HURT LIKE A MUTHER. However, I've had three children natural so I could handle it and only closed my eyes to focus.

Just warning you, the back up top won't hurt much, but once the artist gets to the lower areas and more sensitive skin, be mentally prepared.

I think its all been said but just remeber it is permanent mog and deciding you dont actually want one while you're having it done may be embarassing.

Elvish is amazing its so graceful. I'm quessing you're a Tolkien fan then Runecaster, you don't happen to have the designs from when you got the third one done, I'd like to see it.

Hmmm, thanks for the warning Runecaster! Being a pharmacist may be quite handy in this case - i'll be sure to dope myself up good before going for the more painful stuff! That said, they said my piercings would hurt... and I didn't feel a thing! LOL!

Oh, and as an estimate, it'll get done in the new year - it'll take that long to scope out a good artist, get the time free to get it done, and reach my ideal weight (dont want it stretching). In that time i'll be able to decide whether its really what I want. 4 months should be sufficient...

Yeah it's a good idea to take all the time in the world. Mine are fairly inconspicuous and small so even my first spur of the moment one wasn't a big issue.

I actually think I have a pic of the one on my back. Let me go look for it...

Hmm found it. It's VERY fresh, only a day old. It's quite normal looking now.

My boyfriend wants ther 'familiar' glyph from the Blade movie, he wants it on the back of his neck so he can hide it under a shirt or show it off with a tee-shirt. He'll be 18 when he gets it done (next month) but I really don't think he should get it done. He wants it a lot though so I'm staying out of it.
