Web Designer Work.. Need Advice

To due a lack of a better forum, I will post it here.

I have been offered to maintain and build a hosting companies site. It will be about 7 pages, with custom php scripting in the forms of dynamic forms and other small stuff..

It will feature a custom design, kinda like the one that I showed you guys. How much would a resonable cost be for such a project??

Digital, i dont really know, but you should look around at other sites that offer similar services and price your price accordingly

Could you be a slight bit more specific?

What's on the 7 pages. Are there any graphics? Is it heavy scripting? Approximately how many lines of coding per page.

Also, I didn't see that custom design. Are you talking about the layout you made?

I'll be able to tell you an approximate value as soon as you reply.

I worked out a deal with him, I will be trading my services for a Virtual Dedicated Server.. so it evens out.

I think that this might be a good time to ask a stupid question,

Whats the difference between a regular server and a "virtual dedicated" server?

Thanks a ton for dealing with me

Not a really stupid question.. actually a pretty fair question..

A Dedicated Server is a stand-alone machine that is owned and ran by one person, they are really expensive, usually between 100 to 200 dollars a month.

A Virtual Dedicated Server is a shared machine, however each account on it is like a seperate machine, it just uses the same processors and memory, etc.. they are a lot cheaper, the one I got is 12.50 a month.. and has good specs..

Basically that is the difference.. as I see it anyway..

If its a hosting company, Digital, I sure hope they are being generous with the bandwidth. Nothing sucks more than companies who limit VS servers to 20gb/month or less.
