Your sources of inspiration?

Well, since its gone all quiet on the forums (something thats probably attributable to most young people going back to school/college), I thought that i'd liven things up with this thread.

The topic is simple... how to you get the inspiration you need for your designs? Are you naturally full of ideas or, like me, do you have to get 'in the right mood' to create something cool? And what puts you in that mood? Go on... spill the beans guys & gals!

Sometimes when something pisses me off i go and design something idealistic (vide my sig ). Or i see something funny/interesting/unbelievable in real world/tv/internet Lots of sources.

I simply like to play around. I build off my interests, so I do stuff that directly uses something I'm into, you know? Like my current sig. I like anime. My other sigs have all types of stuff. Gaming, Anime, Cars, Abstracts, etc. It's whatever I'm into at that exact moment. As far as what MAKES me do it? Experience and the off hope that I can use something I learn out here to get into an art school and go into graphic design. THAT inspires me. Well, that and seeing others' work and trying to beat them.

I was just talking about this to a friend.. I make silly pictures in photoshop with brushes and shapes.. and turn them into what I call my minds eye art.. whatever comes to my head, usually just starting out with one shape or brush line.. and go from there.. sometimes they are neat.. and other times just a blob of goo... but.. I do this a therapy.. it calms me, and gives me something mindless to think about instead of everyday problems.
Something totally different from photographs.. so that is fun for me! Hey.. thanks for asking.. that was fun!

Mainly movies and driving. I watch a lot of movies, so a lot of my ideas come from themes I've seen in movies. I like to try and make representations of my thoughts in my works. A lot of inspirations also comes from when I am either riding with someone or driving, just watching everything around me. I have a really hard time just sitting down and creating something, just doesn't work.

Think think... Um Usually I get it from other people. Someon will say something interesting or I'll see someone's art and go "Hey, what would that look like ?" And if I have absolutly NO creative ideas I ask someone to say something philisophical and end up doing something with it.

Anime, cartoons, cheesy sci-fi movies, anything that is meant for entertainment inspires me including music.

On a side note one good way to fill your "creative well", a method used by many directors, is driving! As mentioned in a above post driving can introduce you to new images and things, which is why you should carry a notepad in your car to write ideas down on.
