Saving User Setting in a Flash File

Hello.

Does anyone know if it is possible to save a flash file on the internet to remember where a user left it. Basically i have a site where people register as members, they can then login and use a drag and drop flash to place text where they want it. But i need to make it so that person can click a button to save it, then when they have logged back in it remembers what they have done.

Any thoughts would be great?

Thanks
James

I have created a new thread for your post, as you'll probably have more chance of getting an answer than by tagging your question on the end of an existing thread.

I'm afraid I don't have an answer; Unleash is our resident Flash guru - hopefully he'll spot this and be able to help you out.

Hey!

I am actually not sure if you can combine php and flash.....

I know that you can write an XML file with flash, so maybe you should look into that. Like "Flash > XML > PHP > MYSQL" or something like that. But I dont know if you can read out an XML file with PHP.....

Well I hope this helps you out,

Thanks for the reply Unleash. My own thoughts on this are that web applications that offer this sort of functionality normally store individual user settings in a cookie that is dropped on the user's machine and then read by the app the next time the user visits that particular site. Whether a Flash application can read and write cookies, though, I have no idea.
