Flash Player 9 Problems

I have had many problems with Adobe Flash Player 9 not loading Flash components.... It will load some sites, but not all!

I actually had to remove Flash 9 and reinstall Flash 8 to get them to work...

Some are flash sites I've created but I've had trouble with others as well.

Has anybody else experienced this difficulty? There is some talk about it at Adobe's Forum but no helpful info...

Mike.

I came across your message on a web search. My computer does the same thing. For instance, flash music players often only load a few seconds of the song and movies, such as those at HistoryChannel.com, never play fully. Did you ever get this problem figured out?

It doesn't matter if I use IE (7) or Firefox (2.0). They both do the same thing. I never get to fully watch or hear anything on this computer. (Gateway 7422GX, 1GB RAM, Windows XP Home SP2)

don't know what to tell you then... I have no problems with ver. 9... I just watched a few movies entirely at Newgrounds.com - The Problems Of The Future, Today! and played a few games with no trouble... but I am on a Mac G5 running OS 10.4.7 too

my guess is likely some system conflict or maybe the pc version of the player has a bug

Sorry guys.. some time went by since my original post so I had forgotten about this thread but...

I still have not found anything concrete, but I found that most FLASH designed apps work ok in Flash Player 9, but those compiled by FLASH competitors seem to have some difficulties... (ie. Swish, Sparkle, and others)

I am assuming that Adobe is getting smart now that they own Flash, and are building in a strong case for brand loyalty.

All of this is speculation mind you, but as I said in my OP, reverting to Flash Player 8 eliminated this issue.

Download Macromedia Flash Player 8 - Infogenix - Web Design, Development, Marketing, Programming

This page has links to the various versions of Flash Player 8 which are in the archive section of the Macromedia page...

Thanks for that link! The older version does load more content, but unfortunately I still have some issues with complete loads. I am curious now as to what version 9 is supposed to have that is so much better. I did read the features at Adobe.com, but when I read "faster loading" I had to laugh.

Hi,

I had the same problem. I noticed that any time i had tried to install i didnt close all other browser windows.

When i closed them all and re-installed flash it worked??? I dont know if this will work for you? but worth a try!

I've been having the same issues with flash 9 as well. I'm on a intel based mac and i've been reading that this has caused some issues, i'm not worried about it so much with the browsers but when I try to play .swf for work.

So this isn't a help for the browser issues so much as for the running of .swf or .flv. But there is a free player out there that so far is working quite nicely. You can download here...BUT it is for mac only. But it helps

I don't know if this will solve your issue, but I was having something similar a while back.

I found a site that claimed if you go to the system32 folder and find the flash player-related file (I'm sorry but it's been a while since I've been to the website and I can't completely remember everything) and double-click it that might solve the issue.
