downloading

i have photoshop 5.5. the program keeps telling me what i've downloaded doesnt match the system. why?

Its probably a brush for Photoshop 7 or greater. Unfortunately there is no simple way of finding out versions of Brushes for versions of Photoshop without testing them on each and every program variation. Its one of the few ways in which Photoshop can really suck :/
