Gonna Be Busy Spring

Posted 03-09-2009 at 11:18 PM by synthetic

I feel bad I haven't been around a lot lately. I still try to at least stop by once a day but lots happening lately.

First up, dealing with some old feelings for an old love that has just told me she is getting married in a month. Its been really hard to deal with because we dated for 4 years, asked her to marry me less than 2 years ago and said "no.... just not right time"... we both got in an emotional rut from there and weren't happy so I said we should just be friends almost 1 year ago. Part of me always thought we would get back together I guess when we both were in a better mindset.

To help deal with emotional hangups... I have taken on some possible freelance projects. One is a website makeover. Story is a man had a programmer build a website and well.... it looks like it was made by a coder as well. So I need to see what he really wants and hit a price just under what the pros are charging.

Next, I got referred to a person who runs a "nipple piercing" business that specializes in valuable jewels and such (his website). He wants a marketing campaign to match his style of his website. Sounds like brochures, business cards, signage and possible TV graphics. Should be interesting considering the subject

So... I am still here... I pop in for a few minutes as I can but I am really just trying to keep busy because it helps me forget what I need to forget and move on... best part... I will be in Florida March 27th enjoying the sun, no work, and hopefully some good beer compliments of father for a family vacation. I can't think of better timing.... and I am for sure bringing the camera. Coco Beach and I have a date for an early morning photo shoot.

Well... its... I am officially swamped with work now. I have a website to develop for a roofing company and need to get done by mid April. Worked out pretty good securing my largest web contract yet. That will help me pay down my bills.

Then, I just got more work from the nipple piercing guy. What a character he was. He is truly unique person with lots of ideas. He actually is trying to be a multimedia marketing company as well as nipple piercing so... that was another line of work he had for me. Looks like I will be creating a brochure and business card for this line of work first. I will then be looking at creating Flash animation for use in TV commercials for his nipple piercing business. Then I will also be doing some templates for him to help with his marketing promotions for the multimedia aspect again. He also said he may have steady flow of work for me if it all pans out like he hopes.

My buddy also told me my bike parts are just about done with powder coating and will have back in 2 weeks. So I will also be spending some time trying to piece the bike back together.

Busy.... busy.... busy. But, that is good for me right now. When I have too much time to think... I tend to think of the past and wishing I could have changed it. All this work will help keep my mind occupied and hopefully help me to move on. I am also getting my house ready for sale this summer too. Too many memories of a failed attempt to be married there and just don't have the time or motivation to keep up with everything it needs.

This year is going to be a new start for me hopefully. I don't know why I post all my emotional crap here... guess its part of that new "being more open" thing I am trying. I have discussed a lot of this with a few friends locally and I consider many of you my friends too and guess I just thought I would share. So... here's to a new life and hopefully new outlook on it.

glad to hear that you have lots to do now. it really sucks to have nothing to do. whats bad is when you fall into a routine of nothing, and then it is hard to get back to working as hard as one once did.

perhaps the right girl for you is pierced...
you could be there with all your gear, dramatic lighting in place, focusing on her nipples... your eyes meet.....
    (hey, it could happen)

what color is your powder coat? I thought about doing that to my bike, i even wanted to do the tank that way. but the tank is leaky, have to get another so that i can have mine fixed or just as a replacement. it sounds vain but i like the gascap on mine. (lil flipup jobber) most of the ones i see at yards are screwon and i know i would loose the cap. the rest of the bike os so old im afraid to take parts off for fear of shearing off a bolthead or something. (not that its all rickety or rusty, just that 35 year old replacement parts arent exactly quick to come by)
and I dont mind you posting all your "emotional crap" here. seriously, if people talked more openly, there would be less problems in the world.
people talk openly about their sucky jobs, and how they hate their boss. car troubles. government. religion. other peoples problems. but when it comes to talking about a personal struggle for some reason people just don't speak up.
(I have a lot of issues too, perhaps when your done with yours we could swap. it beats both of us having the same subscriptions )

    Thanks for the support STM.

Yeah... being in a rut sucks. Its easy to get complacent and harder to change things.

Hmm... I wouldn't mind a pierced lady. Had one once a while back. Now just gotta talk that guy into hiring for his photographer too!

I am getting kinda new deal on the color for wheels, frame, swingarm. its black chrome... but... its not exactly as it sounds. Its like a silver base (not really shiny like chrome) that is coated with a transparent black. The black is so thin that it just makes the silver a tad smoked looking but it changes a little depending on angle of light and view. Its a 2 step process on that one. I am getting a nice bright red on calipers, glossy black on subframe, and high temp silver on the exhaust. Could never afford all that but... its my payment for the website

I thought just being male was good enough excuse for keeping things in and it would eventually go away. But, it seems I was wrong. You are right... we would probably have many less issues in life to deal with. I think this was why I got a no for marriage. I sprung it on her as a total surprise. Never really talked about it before and had struggled a little here and there in relationship earlier but... I knew it was what I wanted. Yep... everyone has issues... its how you deal with them that's makes the difference... you can have my issues now if you like STM... mine are kinda heavy... might seem like unfair trade

synth, I knoe what black chrome is. wanted to do some on one of my old trucks.
so, since you bike too, i was thinking of putting manifold wap on my exhaist pipe from the motor to where it crosses under at the expansion chamber. good idea or not? bear in mind its a 2 stroke and i live where it gets 116 degrees in summer. i heard that for cars it helps increase hp. but on an air cooled bike would that help or make overheating more emminent?
what kind of bike do you ride? you dont come across as a squid, i gather that you ride responsibly.
just wd40 the throttle cables on mine and it improved my pickup. 70 mph on a 1974 175cc bike isnt bad considering that brand new it supposed to do 74mph
the odometer read 2600 when i got it, it was probably only used ofr trail riding. i have put on 2400 myself since i bought it, and every day it runs a bit better. cant hold a wheelie for too long tho, the powerband is tight, probably geared for trail. mebbe one less tooth in back or one more in front someday. but better off getting the topend rebuilt. new wristpin and rings, break-in etc.

I thought I knew what black chrome was until I seen in my hands. I was hoping to get a shiny chrome with transparent black over top to dull it a bit but... its still kinda neat because of the color shift.

I have a 2001 Suzuki SV650s that I put a nice bit of money into over the years. Its Suzuki's cheap v-twin sport bike, mostly because of cheap suspension but I have upgrade that a bit here and there... adding a custom front end with GSXR750 forks and custom adjustable billet triples... has GSXR750 rear shock... also added custom fully faired bodywork, gel seat, billet rearsets and pegs, Yosh exhaust, K&N, modified carbs a bit, and getting some new levers to go with the new GSXR brakes. A blast to ride down the country roads.... handles great and the vtwin 650 puts out 70hp and about 44ft/lbs of torque and weighs about 430lbs wet.... just fast enough to get a speeding ticket but not so much that its scary... very controllable power and linear. Love the character of the vtwin and the midrange torque. Only thing bigger and more powerful bikes have is more speed over 100 which I don't really need unless at the track.

I have done a track day where you hit a local race course and get to lap it in sessions with an instructor or guide for a day. It was a blast and hope to get one in this year.

I don't think I am a squid... I am no stunter... that is for sure. I do tend to speed a bit (though not excessively around traffic like those guys that use highways to run 100mph+) and get impatient with traffic at times taking advantage of smaller spaces only a bike could fit to make get around... those I pass probably think I am a squid lol. Oh... I am a faithful gear person to... never without a helmet, gloves and jacket at least. Long spirited trips I also use boots and full leather suit... I have seen many go down and what can happen... I been down twice myself for various reasons and never got more than a bruised arm thanks to my gear

Oh... the wrap will help with heat a bit but... it will collect dust and if it gets wet... it will catch more dirt and get kinda nasty after a bit. I used it on my header when it burned paint on my custom fairings. It helped reduce heat a bit but not major difference. I eventually took it off because of the nasty look after a while.

yeah, im a stickler for gear too. full helmet, (picked up a shoei for $40 (was told that it was a steal, why did they think i jumped on it...)) leather jacket heavy one for winter, bought a new really thin and light one for the summer.with lots of airflow but am worried that i am going to bake in a full helmet during out 115 deg. summers, I wear glasses, so a lid is out of the question unless i can get some goggles that cover my glasses. now thats just raising the "dork" factor.... I am looking for a nice euro-retro 3/4 with a shield but dont want to go broke. I have always worn jeans and steel-toes due to my work environment and my spindily ankles.

yep... if you got a new Shoei for $40... that was a serious steal of a deal.... if it was used... still a good price unless it was dropped previously. I had a Shoei I used for last few years... was RF900 blue with Troy Lee joker on both sides. I paid about $250 new for it which was a good deal even then. I just got a new one this year though... KBC VR1x for $60 new. Motorcyle USA has a superstore online and they always have sales... that is how I got how I got the good deal on the KBC. Its worth signing up for their newsletter if you think you may need more gear later etc... that is how I knew the helmet was on sale

Yeah... I realize its a different scenario dealing with heat that extreme out there. I have a buddy here that rides in black leathers where ever he goes. His moto is "if its too hot for leathers... its too hot to ride". lol

I have the mesh textile jacket I wear when it really gets hot.

someone told me the other day that at some of the biker shows that there are people who sell fake D.O.T. stickers for those "lids" that are popular with the harley crowd but that arent exactly approved. still really like the look of that helmet though. VERY cold war MIG fighter pilot looking.

STM... thanks... frame and swingarm are the same black chrome I was told all my parts are now done and back in town. We are hold for reassembly until I get back from vacation and can't setup a photo shoot for the frame. We are gonna make it part of the powder coating website as a 360 degree Flash rotation.

Let me know how the helmet works out for you. Never seen anyone with one so its definitely unique.
