new interior

Posted 05-19-2008 at 07:49 PM by supertackyman
A friend of mine brought over his suburban on sunday and gave it to me.
It dosent run but, I have and will be using it for spare parts until I either use it all up or it becomes eyesoreish.

my project for this week is to take the interior out of it and transplant it into mine. mine has a nice exterior but a rather ratty getting brown interior with bench seats that are wearing thru.

the stripper as i am calling it, is all blue inside, has bucket seats, with arm rests.

I will be replacing the carpet, seats, inside trim, dashboard, gauge bezels, door panels, visors, seatbelts and headliner. as well as mounting the overhead console into mine and wiring it.

after that, the windshields will be swapped.

so far, I have removed the front seats and the front carpet area.

Today, I will be removing the front seat brackets that mount to the front inside of the bucket seat mounts. these must be ground off as they are welded on. in due time I will weld these into my truck. so i can mount the seats.
and if i have time, i will remove the rear seats and the rear carpet.

it is my goal to spend this holiday weekend gutting my truck and performing the transplant.

more updates as progress continues. and perhaps a set of before and after pics.

ok. I ground the welds off the seat mounts and got them out last night and cleaned them up.
also made arrangements to borrow the proper tool to remove the top mount of the shoulder harness (its some huge star shaped hole (torx if i remember)) all thats left is the rear seats and trim. the dash is easy, just a bunch of screws.

yesterday (wed) I gutted out the rest of the stripper.
everything is ready to transplant. I still have 3 door panels to yank but those take 5-10 minutes apiece. so that will go quickly.
probably spend some time before putting it all in cleaning it up with windex or armor all.

today I will clean out my truck in prep to remove its guts.
soda cans and food wrappers all gotta go! pull the old overcarpet i put in
will post pics of the project when its done.
