Spirits for the Season

It arrived! Woo Hoo!

What arrived? Wine, and lots of it!

I'm no wine connoisseur, but I know what I like. What I like are Port Wine, and Cream Sherry for desert - Concord and Niagara for table wine - Ice Wine of Vidal Blanc and Raspberry wine on special occasions. Oh, and I can't leave out the Holiday Wine that's served hot. I'm not a big fan of dry wines like Merlot or Chardonnay though. I'm originally from Erie, PA and the best winery is Mazza Wines right on the shores of Lake Erie and that's who I ordered my spirits from. I checked all the local wineries websites down here in Middle Tennessee and couldn't believe the prices! Even with shipping, I saved almost a third of the cost by ordering from Mazza, and I know what I'm getting.

People laugh when I tell them that the wines from Northeast PA are as good or better than those in CA.
You're laughing, aren't you? Denying it while you snicker isn't very convincing, you know.

Did I mention that I was a grape vine stump tyer one spring? Yep, spent my cold spring days going up and down miles and miles of vineyards tying the stumps to the wires. Only the seasoned workers are allowed to tie the shoots. This winery used cotton twine so it rots off by the end of the season. They do this so it doesn't get caught in the grape picker machine like plastic ties would.

Little known fact: Wines from Northwest PA and Northwest NY (along the lake shore) are comparable to those in France as the climates are almost identical.

Time for a glass!

I grew up in California near the corbett canyon area. but I cant disagree with you. I never aquired a taste for wine and probably couldnt tell the difference between a fine bottle and that from a box.

ditto for beer.
