Meetings

Posted 09-26-2007 at 08:29 PM by MoodsR4Cattle
I work from home for many reasons, one reason was to get out of "The Meeting".
"The Meeting" is about 20 miles one way so it's inconvenient, time consuming and really unnecessary. I think sometimes that people working in an office environment like to have meetings to kill time or have an excuse to delay some menial task. I don't like meetings because frankly, I don't like having to put on a 'game face' and 'laugh on cue' for some clearly un-funny comment made by someone who feels that their position in the company grants them unconditional devotion and admiration from all their subordinates. I'd much rather have a conference call where I can at least roll my eyes or stick out my tongue or play some computer game while the rest of the 'subordinates' say, "Yes Sir", and "I'll get right on it", followed by, "I'll make that my first priority". But not this company, no sir, they want me there in person as though eye contact is the secret elixir that will make me work harder, faster or even make me more creative.

So I've just returned from yet another "Meeting" and I'm tired. Each meeting makes their project feel more and more like nails on a chalkboard and I'd rather be Tommy on a Pinball Machine than go to another boring meeting.
So until next time ...

I feel for you.
I dont have meetings, I have Jobsites.
I either go and take measurements which is nice and a good getaway, OR
I have a delivery.
Deliveries are ok enough unless, due to a miscommunication, there is no-one to assist in offloading.
unloading and restacking 70 of more 60 pound concrete trim pieces is a workout that puts 24hour fitness or ballys to shame.

Someone one asked me if i wanted to join a gym and work out, I told them thats what i have a job for.

but yeah, meetings were allways a waste of good time.
did a stint at wal-mart and they made us do a cheer after each meeting
i used to sneek out.
they allways reminded me of why i hated PEP rallys in school.

Cheering after a meeting ... I've seen that at WallyWorld - can't blame you a bit for sneaking out.

When I worked at the record store we'd have weekly shipments of albums and each crate (maybe 14) was 50 lbs and I thought that was a workout - I can't imagine 70 - 60lb items to haul!
