Rats!
Yesterday my daughter came home with a small box - I knew something was up by that little glimmer in her eye. When she opened the box I was very surprised to find an itty bitty pink shape wiggling around inside. She found this 2/3 day old pink baby rat alone in the middle of the grocery store parking lot. She picked it up with a napkin and took it to the pet store which is right next door. They said that they couldn't take it because it was not domestic, however, they did fill a latex glove with warm water and put it in a box with some bedding for the little runt. They also gave her a little can of condensed milk.
So here we are with this little pink rat, no bigger than a quarter, that we're feeding every two/three hours. I've contacted a couple rescues to see if they'd take "Lucky" in, but so far no luck. It's a rat after all, and not a domesticated one.
What to do, what to do.
** We've located a local wildlife preserve called Walden's Puddle that's agreed to take the little bugger.

I suppose that's possible. We took it to the wildlife preserve and they said it was a mouse. Show's what I know. They said they would take care of it. What that means can be interpreted a couple ways. They could bottle feed the little thing till it's big enough and possibly become a classroom pet ... or (and this is my "or") it could become food for one of their baby owls or any other animal in their care. I'll hope for the former.Posted 09-03-2009 at 09:18 PM by MoodsR4Cattle

Awe, at least you found a home for it what ever that might mean. We found a domestic black baby bunny on the road. The car in front of us nearly ran it over but saw it in time. We checked locals to see if anyone had baby bunnies. We also named him Lucky but he always seemed to answer to Bunny so now his name is just that, Bunny. After a hundred dollars or so in fencing, food, bedding, snacks, toys, etc etc we have a much loved bunny. Now we have to get him fixed because he keeps spraying the cats and that is one nasty smell. My cats dont appreciate it either.Posted 09-04-2009 at 12:50 AM by Nancy Wett
