The 4 hour dinner ...

I love food. Everything from the delicate to the robust. So I am very fortunate that my daughter's boyfriend loves to cook.

last Saturday, we were treated to a French style 11 course dinner, served with the slightly shaky hands of a chef trying a couple untested recipes. We ate outside under the stars.
The menu went as follows:

Gruyére Cheese Gougéres
Linguine with Clams
Salad of Haricots Verts and Tomato Tartare
Parisian Gnocchi with Summer Vegetables
Ratatouille
Asparagus Soup with Chive Oil and Bacon
Seared Scallops with Creme Anglaise and Fried Asparagus
Cream of Walnut Soup
Vanilla Ice Cream
Vanilla Bean Roasted Figs with Honey Cream
Coffee and Donuts.

Every single item was created with fresh ingredients from scratch ... from the pasta to the ice cream and even the donuts. My husband and I thought we might need to use words like, interesting or different ... but there was no need ... each item was delicious and five star quality.
He spent 3 days preparing this fabulous meal and hopes to make it a seasonal event.
I hope so too!

wow! that must have been nice.
the only time that I get a meal coked for me is if we go out to dinner.
with my wife being handicapped, I worry about her in the kitchen with so many hot and sharp things just waiting to fall in her lap. so, I do all the cooking.
my 16 year old son can barely run the microwave. I asked for his help and told him he could make the greenbeans once, (its not like he hasnt eaten them often and the same way for years. with butter and some garlic) but he just opens the can, dosent drain it and turns the heat on HIGH. dosen't ask how.
(apparently cooking temperature, seasoning, and flavor, just magically occur under high heat)
