Glasses.

It's been ten years since my last eye test. My husband decided after watching me hold small print at arms length (embarrassing at a restaurant) that it was time to go again. Today I'm wearing my new glasses with no-line Bi-Focals. I feel so old. I can't see anything. That's not exactly true, I can see ... but if it's not directly in the center of the lens, it's blurry as hell! Assuming, of course, that hell is blurry. If you don't move your head, but try to look left or right it's all blur AND distortion.

I am thrilled that I can now read small print (or relatively large print for that matter) without wishing for longer arms. But the area for prime print focus is very small as well ... the width of a paperback is about all that will fit in the view in focus.

Can't turn your head too fast either - it gets all swimmy and you feel like you're looking out of a fish bowl. Everyone says I'll get used to it after about a week.

We'll see how I feel about them in a week.

I was just at the eye doctors myself the other day.
I had developed a blurry spot that wasnt going away. it seemed like i had a spot on my glasses or had something that was creating a glare spot even though my glasses were clean.
you know that feeling your eyes get when looking thru a dirty spot on your glasses all day? it was like that.
I was getting worried so i went in.I had something embedded in my eye! The doc got it out and sent me on my way with some eyedrops and antibiotics. I can see much better now. but I know that soon I'm just have to break down and get a new pair of glasses like yourself.

Well happyli for me, I don't need glasses or so...Im afraid I would be to damn lazy to go to the eyedoctor every now and than

But tell us how it goes, if the blurriness is going away.

STM: I know that feeling, had it once, went by the doctor...he told me that part of my eye was sore..(is that the right word??) But that's not the case with you, right.?

I've never had anything actually stick in my eye ... that's just scary. I'm not wearing my glasses right at the moment. I just can't get used to "pointing my nose" at what I want to see. I like looking around with my eyes, not my head, you know? All this would be moot if I went with lined bifocals. But with the lines I might as well just wear a t-shirt that says, "Old as Dirt". Be it true or not, I just don't want to look old as dirt.

Vanity has it's drawbacks.
