Skint but happy!

After a very fraught weekend searching for used cars in the local area, Bunni's parents were kind enough to drive us around a few dealerships in search of our ideal car... and we found it on sunday in the form of a 2005 Peugeot 206 SE 1.6. Yeah, ok, it may not be massively powerful by some people's standards, but for a kitty who is used to trundling around for lessons in a wrecked 1.2 corsa (read: a lawnmower), a 1.6L 16v engine is an absolute godsend! Plus we got it cheapish too - £5.8k for a 2yr old car thats done 13k miles and is in immaculate condition WITH 12 months road tax, a 12-month MOT, and a full tank of petrol!

Our satnav is arriving on Thursday, and then its my job on saturday to drive it home from Fareham (10 miles). Oh PLEASE let the roads be quiet...

That's a cute car! Only 10 miles to get it home - you can do it!

very nice

nice car dude. is traffic that hellish over there?
maybe it that im from the states, but it seems like a lot more work to get to be allowed to drive over there.
then again, we dont have autobahns.
over here you can go as fast as you want on the freeway too, just so long as someone is going faster than you. (spelled cop bait)

Its an annual check of a car's roadworthiness. The UK government actually has a very good website on this subject over at http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring.../Mot/index.htm

Here in the PA its called 'state inspection'. The annual once over for safety. We also have an 'emissions' test, also annual. This tests the amount of exhaust your car puts in the air. Guide lines are strict, but if you put under 5K miles on, you are exempt. Yipee, thats me for the second year in a row. I live a very boring life! Bank, post office, grocery store........

I don't know if it's the same now, but in Ohio for the longest time there was no inspection and you could drive the worst, most rusted, doors missing piece of junk you could get your hands on.
Down here in Tennessee it's emissions only and it costs $12.
