Yet one more patient hobby

Apologies for my absence lately, but I have been busy with a brand new hobby... fishkeeping! Yup, it may seem boring to you all, but I find growing plants and keeping animals very rewarding, and this seems to combine my love of plants with my love of art, so I know i'm definately onto a winner!

Last friday I finally managed to get my paws on the 240 litre tank, CO2 addition systems, external filter, and plants, and now every day I seem to spend hours reading around the subject (as is my habit) whilst the plants sit there slowly growing into the aquascape I need before I can reliably add fish. Its all quite calming really, and makes the lounge look amazing.

I'll have some pictures of my setup soon, and progress pictures will, of course, follow thereafter every couple of weeks, but here's a taster of what I'm aiming towards:

Pretty nice, huh? Of course, I'd be blessed if my tank ever looks like that, but I can hope, can't I? In the meantime I'll be hard at work with the dayjob trying to pay back the small fortune i've spent getting myself started... before I buy that home gym I have planned for Xmas. Ah well, at least the latter hobby is cheaper!

Fresh tropical - I don't think I could afford marine/reef! And thanks for the offer, but I'm gonna be putting angelfish in my tank... and heaven knows they just can't resist a bit of fin-nipping, especially from flowing-finned fish like guppies - it'll look like a cigar tube in hours!

For my first fish I'm gonna pop in some cherry barbs, shrimp, and a small catfish (then when its all established, the angelfish). Good choices?

probably just what you coud use after a long day. to sit and relax and watch your fish look back at you.
its very calming.
I wouldnt have known how to ship live fish that far and across an ocean anyway, i dont think they are up to the swim.
best of luck.
