My blender&yafray HDRI tutorial

HDRI is such a nice thing to habve in your scenes. It instantly gives your renders a more life like scene. This is my newest blender tutorial. I have scrapped the other tutorials because they were badly written.

I will be needing a dummy to test out this tutorial if they want to. The person who tests this tutorial out, should atleast have practised moving about the interface and tried some newbie tutorials, they need about 3 days blender experience. Do i have any volunteers?

The results of this tutorial are so awesome. Here is a screen grab from my first attempt.

Once i know that some one else can do this tutorial, i would like m0g to upload this hting to biorust. But i know it is going to spark up a hell of alot of problems amongst mega-noobs attempting it.

Here is an image preview
HDRi test

Just pm me, if you would like a .zip file of the tutorial.

*Raises hand* "Pick me! Pick me!"

This looks like a great technique. I just started learning Blender about a week ago. I've done the Blender quickstart tutorial in the manual, and I've even made a roller coaster like animation where you feel as if you are zooming through a wormhole. I probably should have used an animate on a path technique for that, but I didn't know how so I just used basic keyframing. Its pretty cool for my first render/animation, and i'm excited to learn more. All-in-all, I know my way around Blender pretty well already, so this tutorial shouldn't be a problem. You can email the zip file to orangecreamsoda0@gawab.com

I'm trying to get around to upload it on Biorust, but my tonsilitis at the moment makes it harder to do anything other than sleep... :/

excellent dude,

this is probably the most awesome realism feature you can have in 3d modelling. Ah good boy, i do not use blender or any 3d app for animations, i simply use it for accurate photoreal objects. If you learn hdri you can get your reflections looking so much nicer.

Yeah il give you the url to the download and good luck!

I'd just like to say that I just read the tutorial and would like to say that it is of uppermost quality! Everyone here should PM Milkdrop and read this thing!

@Milkdrop: would you like me to turn it into a PDF and send that to you, so you could zip that up instead of a .doc?

...or just wait until this Saturday - it should be online in its own section of Biorust by then. I'll announce it in the main site news as normal...

PS. Evdawg - how easy is it to make .PSDs of tutorials? I thought of making Biorust's tuts available as optional .PSDs long ago, but the Acrobat Distiller program was a bit baffling...

If you aren't doing interactive forms, links, etc... a nice free option for creating .pdf's is:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/

Just print to the printer it installs on your system, and you get a pdf instead of a piece of paper.

Or, if you have InDesign you could just export out as a .pdf and skip most of Acrobat.

Well, if you're interested in making the biorust tutorials into PDFs, Acrobat Pro 6.0 installs a nice button in the IE toolbar to convert a webpage to PDF.

ooooooo, this thing has sparked alot of interest by the looks of things. I am still working on much more advanced tutorials on rendering and serious modelling techniques.

yeah i cant wait to see it on biorust as well. It should be a great help for people just starting out in blender and wanting to know how to do HDRI.

Its pencilled in as a project for the future. One look at the PDF creation code made me think I really need to sit down and find a whole weekend to myself before attempting such a complex operation....
