3D image Texture of Earth

Having a serious problem creating a rotating 3D Earth globe. When I map the image set on Refl and Sphere it looks great yet every time I render no matter camera position or the rotation of the sphere it is always south pole facing me. Please help.

Blender 246

This is the texture I am using.

Here is a comparison shot. Any ideas on getting better accuracy.

I believe the answer is to be found in UV mapping, however while in edit mode I hit a select, then u UV unwrap, and still am getting nothing in my UV editor?

have you checked out the blender wiki?

here is a link that should help explain some things...

Check out the sections called UV ORIENTATION and UV ROTATION and LOCATION....
