Spinning Globe

Ok guys I need your help:
What I need is a wire frame globe spinning and gradually morphing into a fully covered earth. Iv got the morth almost, but I need help with the spinning i'v tried Keyframing Rotations but it seems to go of its axis and spin the oposite way. any help on constraining the axis?

to make a spinning globe parent an armature (bone) to the globe then go into the pose mode and rotate the bone (in the top view) 45 degrees .Every x number of frames insert a key frame until u have completed a 360 degree sweep. Now go into your IPO window --Curve--Extend Mode and make the action cyclic. Now your globe will spin for infinity.
