high res camera vs. low res monitor

the other day i uploaded a pic (las Vegas at night to be specific) and when i click to view by image, since my monitor is of lesser resolution than my camera, the window is so huge that i cannot find the sides of it to close the window or resize it or view the pic.
I'm at 1280x1024 on my monitor and can't go any larger.
and I'm using IE6 if you need to know.
this has happened a few times.
anything i can do to my PC to fix this?
more importantly.....does it do this to you?
i don't want to be posting pics that are problematic with being viewed by others. yet i do not wish to reduce the image size as this would reduce the clarity of my images.

man1c... does bulletin have a software fix for this?
p.s. i like the new setup. no wonder i haven't seen you lurking, you've been busy!
oh, and the sheep aren't really worried, they're just being coy.

What is happening is that every image file pixel is being displayed by each screen pixel. Your screen is only 1.3 megapixels, by the way, so's mine as are a majority out there. I don't know what you are using to view your images, but you need to ask your system to reduce the image for viewing. This should not effect your original file at all.

On a Windows system, you can simply right click and save the image to your desktop. Then right click the file on the desktop and select Open With. The easiest thing to do is to choose Windows Picture and Fax Viewer to get fast previews without the need to open entire windows or applications.

Good Luck!

Erik: I believe STM is talking about viewing full-size images in the BioRUST Gallery.

STM: I don't know about IE6, but when I view your photo in both IE7 and Firefox, I get scrollbars so I can move around the image and a control box in the top corner so I can close the window. My monitor is also set at 1280 x 1024 so I don't think that your problem is due to the vBulletin software. There may be some setting in the IE6 Internet Options that you could tweak, but I can't think of any offhand. Have you tried it in Firefox?

Well maybe so, but we still want to fix it on your PC, right? Here's a couple of links I found that might help you out:

My window is too large and wider than my screen. How to I resize it back? - Ask Leo!
window is too big to see the close window 'x' needs re-siz..

marquitorres- thanks for your input, but as i stated earlier in this post, i do not wish to degrade the quality of my image by reducing the pixel count.

tamlin- tried the links you posted but it seems to no avail. the suggestions work but its a pain n the butt.

i tried looking at the pic in firefox today and the window automatically resized and showed scrollbars on side and bottom.

why cant my IE do that?
also- its not just mine, the one at work does the same thing. in IE.

The obvious and flippant (but nonetheless true) answer is that Firefox is a better browser than IE. More secure and more compliant with web standards.
