A suggestion, recycled probably

When I use "New Posts" I'd like to see a list of recent posts that I have also not read . . .

Just now it shows me No New Threads

but there are several I have not read

If there are no new threads to view when you click New Forum Posts, there is an option to see all threads updated during the previous 24 hours (even if they have been marked as read). Is that what you mean?

Where's the option? If you mean "Today's Posts" in the Quick Links, that's a pretty good solution for what I'm looking for, actually.

Okay, I have used the above solutions to find recent threads.

Here's something I find disappointing despite the above solutions.

I haven't visited BioRust in a few days. This morning I saw in the Membership Panel that there were several, several posts and topics that I have not read. I clicked on the New Forum Posts to have a look. Since there were so many interesting topics and I didn't have the time and I'm at work I left BioRust until I had more time . . .

An hour later I see that this counter had been reset to zero, Recent Posts shows only a few. Todays Posts, only a few (maybe the same search?). Post in the last 24 hours, more hits, but certainly not what I wanted to see.

So how about a fix?

I think that's because the vBulletin software drops a "non-permanent" (don't know the proper technical term) cookie on your machine. If you return while the cookie is still active, you'll see posts still marked as Unread. If you return after the cookie has expired, the new post counter is reset to zero.

I don't know if the "lifetime" of the cookie can be extended, but if it can that's something that only Man1c M0g could do.

On another vBulletin message board I frequent this problem was solved when the webmaster, a friend of mine, opted to use a server-side database instead of the cookie method to keep track of recent posts that were unread by the user.
