I have an idea
First I want to thank Biorust and all it's members for the help and support I have received sense joining this community. Photography is a hobby of mine, I have never taken any lessons or classes other than the half day seminar that came free with my camera. Nikon D-70 I have noticed that a great number of skilled and experienced photographers partake in the Biorust forum, I was hoping that maybe we could make it a practice to include some info regarding the mechanics of how the picture was taken. Such as camera, f-stop, shutter speed, iso. You know, what lenses, so on and so forth yada yada yada. Also maybe we could include some photographic tutorials, or links to some. Just an idea, something to think about.

I thinks it's a good idea kokopedal but if you download the image and read the EXIF data attached to it, it will usually divulge information about the image such as time and date, f-stop, camera model, focal length, shutter speed, flash status and much more...
I love the idea of Photographic tutorials.... i know I'd make good use of high quality ones!
Maybe we can find a plugin for M0g to implement in the gallery that will auto display the EXIF info for us...
I'll have a look...
Mike.

Links to photographic tutorials could be something to include in the BioRUST Wiki. I don't think there are many aspects of photographic technique or theory that haven't already been written about somewhere on the Web, so a repository of links would be a good idea. I could volunteer to put that together in the first instance.

I have on occasion downloaded a photo to get a better look at it and I am aware of the EXIF information, it's just that I feel rather uncomfortable downloading another artist's work. I have pruchased several books on photography, but they either show you a picture and dont give specifics or they give specs and no picture. I think we have all experienced that weather it be in photoshop, paint, flash, dreamweaver, the list goes on. I have searched the web for a site on photographic technique without much success. Tamlin, your help in locating tutorials on this would be very helpfull and appreciated. I may wear glasses but my mind's eye has perfect vision.

You make a good point there, my friend. From now on I shall endeavour to provide technical info for whatever photos I upload to the Gallery. I'll also start looking out some links to good photography tips and techniques.

Sorry I've only just got around to looking up some photo technique links. Here are three sites with lots of sections that should keep you busy for a while:
Photography Techniques
Photography Techniques
dg28.com - photographer education

now that I have my new camera back form the shop, and whenever I post pics taken with it I will try to remember to provide that information also. the only way i know how to do this with my camera though is to look at that info while the disk is still in it and write that info down on paper and then transferr it to the (exif?) file properties. any help would be nice.

If you have photoshop with adobe bridge it is easy. just open the pic in bridge and the info is there in the metadata tab

Another way to see these settings is within Photoshop. Load up the photo and select File > File Info... > Camera Data 1 and it's all there.
