Commercial Use?

Hello guys!
I'm new around here (obviously ) and I have a question. Does 'commercial use' include things like selling prints of artwork? I knew it included things like making ads/websites for a profit, and I figured selling prints would be included too but I just wanted to make sure.

Commercial use pretty much some up as :

Any activity that would result in the user of said product making a proffit of any sort.


so yes it includes print. It pretty much covers any sort of medium.

Just a note that commercial use does not necessarily have to mean "for profit".

Technically speaking, any transaction where goods, services, or monies are exchanged is an act of commerce... this means even not-for-profit advertising, sold or traded art work and a whole bunch more things can and are considered "commercial use".

If in doubt, read the licensing agreement of the item in question... they are usually pretty specific about what they include or exclude...

I think you summed it up perfectly in a single sentence there, Mike. I would guess, however, that most people who offer their resources with restrictions about "commercial use" are specifically thinking about the exchange of money (although not necessarily at a profit).

I just wanted to say how nice it is to know that you are interested, and care enough to ask...

Often you will be supprised when taking the time to write to an artist whos work you like, sometimes they might just be too lazy or not interested in marketing themselves, or creating poster prints for sale ( often the cost without an eager buyer, is a discouragment), but a few words and an attractive offer might just benifit you both.
