Well hello and how are you today Freud?
May i please remind you all that we could keep on talking like this forever? Everyone please take a second and remind yourself what we really were talking about by reading the first post. Thank you.

We're talking about art, which I think is a pretty good topic for a forum that is primarily about graphic design and art. We certainly could keep on talking like this forever - what's the problem with that? That's what forums/fora are for. Nobody's being forced to post to this thread, or even read it if they don't want to, and as far as I can see, no one has strayed off-topic. What point are you trying to make?

Art is in the eye of the beholder.

What isn't art, is anything ya don't consider art, it's based on personal opinion. something like I don't think a big pile of dirt is art, but with the right angle of a photograph, I am sure it could be turned into one. Maybe it's based on ability to create.

There isn't a straight answer to either, I don't think, but I am enjoying the opinions of others.

I heart forums.

Yeah, got you're point la fleur rouge...

But I do think humans create art because where the only reall creative beeings on this planet. So if we do something no other beeing can do, then we feel ourselves better then the rest.....

And that is also part of the human beeing.lol

To your original point, Tony. I think this is most definitely art. The canvas just happens to be backlit. I would not hesitate to call myself or anyone here an artist.

Well, I'm afraid Art and Psychology are inextricably linked because the ultimate test of what constitutes art is in the mind of the individual - there is no Platonic Form or archetype for a piece of art, as the posts in this thread show. What constitutes art is, in every case, in the eye and mind of the beholder.

Sorry if this is too deep for you, but it's a deep subject and, as I mentioned earlier, no one's forcing you to read this.

I know i don't have to read. You really are mad at me aren't you? I can handle reading deep and thinking even deeper. That would be a first time. But now i have a clever question: Is psychology art? Well I guess there's a first time for everything.

No, I'm not mad at you. Look: this is me

In answer to your question: I think most people would agree that psychology is a science, not an art.
