BioRUST Developments 2006

I'm constantly thinking of ways to improve BioRUST, so I thought i'd create this thread to announce projects I have in mind for 2006, their progress, etc. As always, this isn't a comprehensive list, and i'll happily add any ideas that I think have merit. So, without further ado, here's the list:
  • Art battles are a confusing affair, and hardly any of them get off the ground. I plan to confront this with an automatic battle system that will allow people to set themselves up for battles with specific rules, etc. When someone accepts the challenge, the script will administrate the battle, enforcing deadlines, etc. Winners of the battles will be decided by public vote, and the votees/participants recorded & rewarded.
  • Add a few extra features to the tutorials/resources/webindex browsing system, so that settings for ordering, sorting, etc are all remembered and fully customizable for all users.
  • Alter the introduction screens for the resources, webindex, and tutorials systems, so that they are flashier and offer many more options for trawling the content.
  • Reach beyond 150 tutorials by the end of 2006.
Remember to check back in the new year for progress reports on these features, etc... oh, and to suggest your OWN ideas! :P

The more amount of automation, the easier the site becomes to use. I think that auto-constructed battles would be an amazing feature to add. It should definately help break up the difficulty of organizing them. If you need any help writing that, I should be around.

More tutorials are also always nice, I'm thinking of writing one on the how to implement AJAX into websites.

One thing that could be considered to add, would be a new section to the downloads. Possibly allow people to post source code to projects that would be free for people to download and use/modify.

I really like the automated battles and the open source code download section. Those are my two favorite by far.
